Huling Station Single Barrel
The Barrel Bros’ Review
The nose on this Huling Station Single Barrel is a delightful journey starting with Welch's grape juice that quickly evolves into a Fig Newton profile. It’s predominantly fruity and sweet, reminiscent of a fruit syrup. You'll also detect layers of butterscotch, honey, vanilla, Rollos candy, and Werther's Originals.
The mouthfeel is buttery, rolling on the tongue nicely. The Pop-Tart profile continues, shifting to an iced cherry flavor. As you take multiple sips, the Fig Newton profile becomes the dominant flavor, staying sweet without becoming dry. There's also a hint of graham cracker at the end. The proof point is perfectly dialed in, offering satisfying depth without being overwhelming.
The finish is long and lingers beautifully in the mouth, emphasizing the wonderful experience. It's sweet but not too heavy. The finish doesn't take you on a complex journey, but it's satisfying and comforting.
This single barrel is an exceptional pour, offering a sweet, flavorful, and dark profile that hits all the right notes. It's a steal at the $50 MSRP and feels hand-crafted with love, evident from the highly particular proof point and detailed aspects of the whiskey.
It's an amazing single barrel that stands up against other high-quality bourbons like Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, Stagg Jr., and Lux Row 12 Year. Master Distiller Alex Castle has truly created something special with this one!

The Rye Guy Says
Score: 9/10
Value: 5/5
THE NOSE:
Immediately I got Welch's grape juice, but it evolved into a Fig Newton profile.
Interestingly I was also reminded of Strawberry Pop tart, perhaps that’s how the oak was presenting itself to me.
Overall, very fruity and sweet like fruit syrup.
THE TASTE:
Buttery mouthfeel! Really rolls on the tongue nicely. I continued to get the Pop-Tart profile of the palate, like an iced cherry instead of strawberry this time.
After multiple sips, the fig newton profile does become the main flavor, but it remains sweet, not dry.
At the very end, I also got some graham crackers.
THE FINISH:
This has a very long finish, that just sits in the mouth well.
Really just putting an exclamation mark on what is already a wonderful experience.
It’s sweet but not too heavy, and once again the fig newton flavor is here to stay.

Fig newton, fig newton, fig newton! That’s a wonderful profile for my palate and one that I would gladly sip over and over. It’s juicy, sweet, flavorful, and dark. It’s pretty much everything I want an exceptional pour of whiskey to be.
It feels like a steal at the price point we purchased it at! Additionally, it is hand-crafted with love written all over it. From the highly particular proof point down to all the detailed aspects of the whiskey, it really seems like the distillers crafted their perfect bottle!

It's like sweet syrup in the mouth. There’s dark caramel, reminiscent of a caramel pie in a homemade buttery pie crust.
The proof point is perfectly dialed in, giving it a satisfying depth without being overwhelming.

The finish is beautifully sweet and lingers just right.
It doesn’t take you on a complex journey, but you’re happy right where you are.
