Green River Full Proof
The Barrel Bros’ Review
The nose of the Green River Full Proof opens with a lot of sweetness. Initial notes of grape develop into blueberry muffin, vanilla cake with white icing, and dark fruits. There’s a touch of brown sugar and buttered pie crust, complemented by a faint hint of waxy chocolate, reminiscent of a Kit-Kat bar.
The palate is the star of this pour. It offers a luscious, silky, and oily mouthfeel that enhances the flavors. Sweet and chocolatey notes bring to mind memories of Twix or Milky Way candy bars, with a grainy, wafer-like quality. These dessert-like characteristics are balanced by subtle fruitiness, likely cherry, and hints of honey and vanilla. While not overly complex, it delivers straightforward, satisfying flavors.
The finish brings a mix of sweetness transitioning into dryness, with oak and cherry notes taking the spotlight. While the lingering oak is pleasant and not overpowering, the cherry and oak combination may not appeal to all, especially if you prefer the palate’s sweeter notes to linger. Additionally, a slight burn develops toward the end, which wasn’t present initially.
The Green River Full Proof offers an enjoyable experience at an accessible $50 MSRP. The standout nose and palate showcase a delightful blend of dessert-like sweetness and dark fruit complexity. While the finish may leave some wanting, the overall pour is undeniably satisfying. At its price point, this bottle is a fantastic addition to your collection, demonstrating why Green River has garnered attention in the bourbon world.

The Rye Guy Says
Score: 7.5/10
Value: 4/5
THE NOSE:
Initially I was getting a sweet grape, but that developed into a blueberry muffin.
Its definitely sweet, almost like vanilla cake with white icing.
I like the dark fruit notes that are present.
THE TASTE:
The palate has a lovely silk and oil mouthfeel that stays sweet and not dry.
It had a sweet and chocolatey flavor that reminded me of a Twix candy bar or a Milky Way.
The sweet wafer comes through bringing that sort of grain flavor to it. Contrasting those flavors I also continue to get a bit of fruit, probably cherry.
THE FINISH:
Unfortunately, that cherry flavor along with the oak continues to build on the finish which is not the flavor from the palate that I would prefer to have linger.
Also, the finish really starts to develop a burn that wasn’t present on the palate.
BUY OR PASS?
I really enjoy the nose, the palate and the mouthfeel of this pour, but the finish leaves me wanting.
That said, this is a really enjoyable pour.

THE NOSE:
A strong hit of oak up front, followed by sweet dark fruits and a subtle brown sugar sweetness.
There’s also a note of buttered pie crust.
As it opens, I catch a faint hint of waxy chocolate, like what you’d find in a Kit-Kat bar.
THE TASTE:
This is where it shines—sweet and syrupy with a delightful mouthfeel.
The flavors are straightforward but fantastic: honey, vanilla, and a wafer-like quality.
It’s not the most complex pour, but it’s very, very enjoyable.
THE FINISH:
The sweetness carries into the finish before transitioning into a touch of dryness and oak.
The oak lingers for minutes, leaving a lasting flavor without being overpowering.
