The Barrel Bros’ Review

The nose of 1792 Full Proof is a delightful mix that instantly transports you to a cozy kitchen. Imagine the smell of apple pie, brown sugar, and butter, giving off a fruity and decadent profile that every bourbon should aspire to. There’s a hint of syrup, more fruity than maple, and a fun bubblegum scent reminiscent of double bubble. Dark raisins, plum, fig, cinnamon gum, and chocolate also make an appearance, making the nose rich and inviting, urging you to dive in.

On the palate, 1792 Full Proof delivers a buttery, rich mouthfeel akin to savoring a sugar cookie baked with brown butter. The dessert-level richness is balanced and doesn’t overwhelm. The bourbon evolves towards a light sugar-dusted pie crust as it approaches the finish. Dark sweetness, syrupy texture, sweet red fruits, and the delightful presence of 125 proof come through nicely. There’s a touch of golden brown pie crust and oak, making each sip a pleasure.

The finish continues the general sweetness from the palate, but gets darker with wonderful notes of butterscotch and caramel. This part of the experience adds a bit of oak and nuttiness, enhancing the overall profile without deviating from the delightful palate. The finish leaves you with a lasting impression of sweetness and warmth, perfect for those cozy fall or winter evenings.

1792 Full Proof is a bourbon that delivers from start to finish. It’s rare to find a bottle that consistently provides such a satisfying experience. Despite its 125 proof, it doesn’t drink hot, making it approachable and enjoyable. This bottle stands out as a fantastic option for both newcomers and seasoned bourbon enthusiasts. If you’re a fan of 1792 Small Batch and Bottled-in-Bond, you’ll be a huge fan of this!

At an MSRP of $50, it offers exceptional value, making it a go-to daily drinker and a must-have on any bourbon lover’s shelf. If you come across it, don't hesitate – it's well worth adding to your collection.

THE NOSE:
Apple pie, brown sugar, and butter!
This is the fruity and decadent profile that I want all bourbons to be.

Something about it also reminds me of syrup but more of a fruit option than maple.

I also picked up a bubblegum scent similar to a double bubble.

THE TASTE:
Buttery-rich mouth feel. It’s like eating a sugar cookie that was baked with brown butter!

Dessert-level richness is the best way I can describe it, but it doesn’t leave you feeling sick!

A light sugar-dusted pie crust is how the bourbon develops as it moves towards the finish.

THE FINISH:
This is where the fruity profile starts to develop, along with a bit of oak.

I also got a slight bit of nuttiness, which I have started to enjoy more with my whiskeys.

The finish adds just the right amount of development to the bourbon experience without stepping outside the profile of the palate.

BUY OR PASS?
I have no complaints about this pour. It’s rare to find a bottle where the entire experience, from start to finish, delivers exactly how and what you want it to. This is one of those bottles.

Additionally, I don’t think I would have guessed this was a full-proof bourbon from a blind. Apart from the amount of flavor present, it just does not drink hot! Absolutely a fantastic bottle that I would recommend to anyone, and at a very approachable price.

THE NOSE:
It’s rich with dark raisins, plum, and other dark fruits.

There’s a hint of fig, cinnamon gum, and chocolate. It’s so enticing you’ll keep going back for more!

THE TASTE:
It’s all about dark sweetness with a wonderful syrupy mouthfeel.

You’ll taste sweet red fruits and appreciate how the 125 proof point comes in nicely.

There’s also a hint of golden brown pie crust and a touch of oak, making it quite delightful.

THE FINISH:
The finish continues the general sweetness from the palate but gets darker.

You’ll find wonderful notes of butterscotch and caramel – my favorites!

BUY OR PASS?
1792 Full Proof is my go-to daily drinker on a cold fall or winter evening. The 125 proof may be too hot for summer, but it’s still amazing.

I’ll always have it on my shelf (I have 4 right now). And at $50 MSRP, I can’t think of a bottle that beats it at that price point!
